The Prairies

We drove out to Chestermere today to drop off some parts for the Tracker which is in the process of being repaired.  North and East of Calgary, Chestermere is a Prairie town with, in winter, flat, white fields stretching out towards infinity.  The distant mountains invisible, cloaked in the white mist which hung in the sky.  Bleak, but beautiful, I think the Prairies will eventually creep into my heart, stirring the same emotions as the Karoo does in South Africa. Back home the sun has broken through the mist and the snow is glistening.  Balzac Billy, the groundhog, was not frightened off by his shadow on Tuesday, so perhaps we are going to have an early Spring this year!
